if i was going to go to all the trouble of stuffing a v8 in a mini, it wouldn't be front wheel drive.. looks as if it's trying to rip the steering rack apart. Don't get me wrong, it ain't boring.

Pause at 0:08, I think thats got something to do with it not going straight.

    September 15, 2011 at 11:17 pm

Thanks smart arse, but I was referring to the extreme 'toe-in' caused by the massive torque of the V8. Torque steer is caused by one wheel trying to spin faster than the other, not twisting the wheels towards each other.

Heavy duty tierods and in order, this happens on gmc heavy duty pickups when doing 4wd lanuches

  19. Luke Finn

    December 13, 2011 at 2:06 am

Thats not torque steer, pause at 0:08, you can see both front rims. The reason its all over the place is because the tierods are on the FRONT of the wheel and not the behind, therefore when you grunt it the tierod is being squeezed but the force of the acceleration from the wheels. Look up DURAMAX tierod fail, its common in gm trucks and the fix is heavy duty tierods so they cannot bend.

  21. Campbell Macleod

Install new tie rod bushings + check if the steering swivel bolts are tight and give her some toe out and im 99% sure that you wont have any more torque steer if you fix the above mentioned issues.

    April 29, 2016 at 9:54 pm

thats filthy ugly thats not even torque steer
what that is is an incorrect bump steer setup
meaning as the car raises from the power the steering pushes the wheels in or out
have a look the wheels have a massive amount of TOE in meaning they are pointing inwards meaning the rack has to come down so the wheels do not change as the car rises
