Top 10 Most Reliable Cars: 2017

Consumer Reports has released its list of the top 10 cars it predicts will give new owners fewer problems than its competitors. Based on data collected on 640,000 vehicles, Consumer Reports has released its Annual Reliability Survey, which studies 17 trouble areas to determine a Predicted Reliability Score for a vehicle.

Trouble areas range from broken interior trim to major issues like out-of-warranty transmission repairs, and the Predicted Reliability Score is combined with data collected from the publication’s track testing, as well as owner-satisfaction survey results and safety data to determine an overall score.

The toyota 86 is not even a sports car. They are highly under powered and has nothing going for it. The Subaru WRX, Chevy Camero, Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger and many others are REAL SPORTS cars that delivers power, style, and real performance when it comes to body style and suspension. Give me a break the 86?? Lol…that car is laughable and I'm sure it's going to be cancelled in a few can not compete against other brands. Toyota as of now, is already cancelling the Prius V at the end of this month in the USA fyi….

Stop just reading someone else's publication. Are your minds so barren you cannot come up with an original content?

So I guess Toyota/Lexus don't put Apple Carplay and Android Auto in their cars because they're concerned about reliability lol.

Reliable for how long? The Kia Niro only came out in 2017. How can anyone possibly know how long that vehicle will last. Maybe they will all expload into flames after 3 years. No one really knows. The only one I truly believe is the Lexus ES.

Please don’t use consumer reports for reliability. They only track cars for 12 months after purchase. Things like a person not knowing how to pair their phone via Bluetooth will bring down the reliability. I wish they would separate powertrain issues from things like infotainment issues…

Paid by Toyota. I had more problem with my prius than any of my other 6 cars combined. In the process of changing the hybrid battery

Now this is what I call a reliability survey, that Kia though is still fresh so I’m not sure but good on them either way…Lexus is my brand for life, funnily my friend just phoned me & said his BMW is giving him headaches, problem after problem,I told him “I have no problems with none of Lexus’s parked in the driveway” while his is at the repair shop.

#1 and #10 sales are insignificant and therefore the data is not reliable statistically and discredit a bit this exercise from CR. (5) vehicles are out dated (but obviously proven) with low technology content: Q70, Q3, IS, GS, ES. There is good value in CR research but a shopper need to know how to interpret it vs your wants.

Reliability in one year old vehicles? …

  24. DriveAndBeDriven

    November 24, 2017 at 4:15 am

This list seems to be pretty accurate. Especially since Lexus/Toyota are kings in the reliability category.

Also, I wasnt too surprised that the Niro got the #1 spot. When I reviewed the Kia Niro, I was quite impressed by how much it offered and Kia (as a whole brand) has really been bringing their "A game"!

It's almost like the comment section doesn't know that this rating is for RELIABILITY, not looks or driving dynamics.

How much did Kia pay you to be number 1? I was expecting an almost perfect clean sweep of Toyota with the money they dished out:)

it hasn't even been more than few months since Kia Niro hit the market, how come it is already on top of the list of most reliable cars? The whole video was just a joke ! Not even a single Honda on the list

  43. towncaptain7

"Top 10 Most Reliable Cars", no mention of what makes the cars reliable, instead talks about ride and handling. And Q3 is more reliable than a RAV 4? Lol…

  44. Bill

    November 25, 2017 at 6:45 am

Toyota is just dominating! Kia has managed to produce reliable cars in a relatively short period of time. Volkswagen, on the other hand, still can't do that, after so many years
