HONDA has revealed the new fun and cute Sports EV Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, a electric sports car that is sibling to the Urban EV Concept.Honda has revealed the new Sports EV Concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show 2017.
It is an all-electric two seater sports car that was teased last month ahead of the auto show.
The Sports EV Concept is the sibling to the new Urban EV Concept car which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month and stole the show with its awesome retro looks.
Following on from that successful debut, Honda is hoping that the same formula here will impress. It certainly does too.
The car is minimal, simple and has a clean design.
Much like the Urban EV it has retro charm thanks to its circular headlights and old school shape and matte paint job.
It balances this design with modern elements such as the front bumper which has a screen built in and the side strip which has a battery indicator on it – like a smartphone. The car seems to borrow elements from a number of the Japanese car manufacturers existing and past cars including the rear-end of the old NSX and some of the chair of the S800.
There is however no word on how powerful the Sports EV is or what is powering it but don’t expect it to be groundbreaking.
Unlike the Urban EV Concept there is no word on when or whether the car will go into production. With the Urban EV, Honda said it would go into production in 2020, so if the Sports EV does get built you can expect it to arrive a little after that.
This new electric car range from Honda is going against the grain in terms of design and is really refreshing to see.
Let’s hope that these cars can deliver in terms of power and range when they go on sale.
